Yesterday was April Fools' Day. I thought it a perfect occasion to rent a high-topped cargo van. Why? Well, only "a fool" would create a piece of artwork too large for her own mini-cargo van, right? The fool is me ... but I couldn't help myself. This piece took on a life of its own and was pure joy to make. It needed to be the size it became. It deserved the expense of special transportation.

Before packing up all the curiosities, I snapped photos and printed them. These images certainly helped speed up the placement of all the objects once we were in Lake City at the R.O.B., one of the many venues for ArtFields 2016. (R.O.B. stands for the Ragsdale Old Building which was once a tobacco warehouse and charcoal briquette factory. It is now used for various local events. There are 22,000 square feet inside the building ... and it will be filled with art during ArtFields.)

Much of the artwork that will be displayed during ArtFields was already in the building but not much was hung. For me, this was great! It meant I could easily snap photos with empty wall space in the background. This was one of the reasons I wanted to install early. ArtFields doesn't start until April 22. It runs through April 30th.
Steve and I worked as quickly as we could, took pictures, and headed back to Columbia. Because we had the rental cargo van, we scheduled another installation at 6 PM that night. I'll blog about that project on another day ... likely after putting on the finishing touches next Wednesday. For now, here are the photos I took of The Cabinet of Curiosities.
